Die Holzrampe in Mehring wurde 2008 erneuert. Damit wurde die Geländesituation für Gleitschirmflieger deutlich verbessert. Die Schneise wurde ebenfalls erweitert. Die Flugstrecke zum Landeplatz ist relativ weit. Daher rechtzeitig abfliegen. Der Landebereich ist teilweise etwas turbulent. Der Landeplatz selbst ist nicht besonders groß. Für Drachen zur Zeit nicht empfehlenswert. Der DFC Trier sucht nach einer Alternative.
