Die Choralpe bei Westendorf hat all das zu bieten was unser Fliegerherz so freudig stimmt. Hohe Berge, die einzigartige Naturlandschaft der Kitzbüheler Alpen, schöne Startplätze und einen großen Landeplatz. Zu den Startplätzen ist im Sommer ein Fußmarsch von knapp 15 Minuten angesagt. Der Weststartplatz ist groß und etwas wellig. Er bietet aber mehreren Schirmen zum Start locker Platz. Enger und steiler geht’s dagegen am Nord-Startplatz zu. Hier können disziplinierte Piloten lediglich 2 Schirme gleichzeitig auslegen. Am einfachsten findet man Thermik hier ab dem späten Vormittag vornehmlich rechts vor dem Weststartplatz. Bei guter Thermik können vor allem Strecken in Richtung Pinzgau unternommen werden. Aber auch bei dynamischem Westwind ist die Kante, die sich links- und rechts des West-Startplatzes erstreckt zum Soaren interessant.
