Pfalzen ist ein Traditionsgelände. Die Drachenflieger fliegen hier schon seit Ende der 70 er Jahre. Die Ortschaft Pfalzen liegt auf der Sonnenterrasse über Bruneck. Schöner Startplatz am Ende der Straße. Startgebühr am dortigen Bauernhof bei Frieda bezahlen (3 Euro). Holzrampe für Drachenflieger. Großer Landeplatz am Sportplatz. Hin und wieder starten dort auch UL Flugzeuge. Pfalzen ist ein schöner Ausgangspunkt für Streckenflüge - vor allem im Frühjahr. Das Gelände wird auch von Flugschulen genutzt (z.B. AFS Flugschule Bad Wildungen). Geländehalter ist der Drachenflieger Club in Pfalzen.
